Chapter 79 The Other Players 2
[BONUS]
Emi\'s POV
"What now?" Sheryl asked with her usual whiny tone.
Throughout our journey, all she did was whine and complain. I was so done hearing her voice. If only she properly aimed fireballs every time she opened her mouth, then I probably wouldn\'t be as pissed as I am right now.
But she would miss her target more often than she could hit them. She\'s dead weight. That was for certain.
In fact, aside from me, Brago, and Ford, everyone else was deadweight — especially Megu and her baby. I mean, who in their right mind would transport a useless mother and her baby into this world?
At least Stan did a great job of healing everyone — he mostly wet his pants most of the time, though.
"We\'ll go back to that newbie village," answered Brago without hesitation.
"You mean that village where we got that letter? Euclid Village?" Megu asked while holding her kid in her arms again.
Didn\'t she get tired? I mean, her child could walk now. She was already one year old!
Brago nodded. "Let\'s regroup there first and wait for the roads to open again."
"Great. We have to walk for days to go back again," grumbled Edgar.
His rotten mouth was as sharp as his spiky hair. All he did was compete with Sheryl for the number one spot complainants in the group. Every time there was a fight, he lazed around and leeched off the kills.
I didn\'t know why Brago hadn\'t kicked him out yet. Edgar was the biggest dead weight around here. We would be better off without him. Much better off.
"Do you have a better idea then?" I snapped at him when he wouldn\'t shut up.
Edgar only looked me up and down and lazily grinned. "How about all the girls dance naked in front of the soldiers? And while they\'re distracted, we sneak past them."
All the girls gave him pointy glares. If it weren\'t for Brago, I would have already roasted him and have him fed to the beasts. He was too disgusting to even eat — not even if I was starving to death.
"Stop joking around. You\'re making things uncomfortable. We\'re already facing so many problems here, don\'t add to it," Ford said to Edgar.
"Or what?" Edgar edged him on with his lower lip puckering out, chin crumpling like a child that was about to cry. "You gonna whine about it to Brago?"
Ford took out his sword and pointed it at Edgar\'s throat.
Oh, how I wish they would kill each other. In that way, more EXP, gil, and food for each of us.
"Bunch of idiots," I muttered. I didn\'t even know why I was still in this group. I\'m too good to be stuck with a bunch of useless retards. I was wasting here, that I knew off.
But where would I go when the roads were block. The Academy was supposed to be a new start for me. It was supposed to be the stage where I shine and towns and kingdoms would compete for me and I would have a better opportunity, finally leaving this bunch to rot.
But now, I had to wait another days or even weeks?
The other players already scattered and I knew there were much better groups out there but I was stuck with this bunch.
"Enough!" Brago thundered. "We\'re nearing another forest again, so unless you don\'t want to be surrounded from all sides by beasts, be quiet."
Ford glared at Edgar, and the latter responded by raising his middle finger at him.
I took a deep breath when we entered the jungle. The quietness that I thought would arrived vanished at a child\'s cry.
"Megu! Stop your child\'s crying, or I\'ll shut her myself," snapped Sheryl.
Honestly, if Sheryl didn\'t say that, I would. Megu\'s age and her innocent annoying kid wasn\'t an excuse if my life was in danger.
"Sorry, she\'s a little hungry," Megu said with an apologetic face.
Gods, I hate her seductive tone. I didn\'t know if it was her natural voice since she had been using it since the beginning. But it could also be her way of seducing the men so they would all be under her spell.
What a wicked woman.
Megu wrapped her robe around her, trying to hide her breast as her child took her milk.
I rolled my eyes when Edgar tried to peek.
Creep.
It was almost night time when we left the forest, so we went back to the spot in the field where we last took our nap. The spot was under a giant tree with a hollow bark, allowing us to take shelter from the rain.
Fortunately, it wasn\'t raining today, but who knew what would happen once the night fell? It was always raining in these parts.
After taking a rest, we roasted meat inside the bark of the giant tree. Brago took the first watch as everyone rested.
When I was sure that everyone was asleep, I went out and took this opportunity to talk with Brago.
I found him outside, sitting by the fire, curled and hunched as if it was cold or something.
"Do you want something?"
I skidded to a stop upon hearing his baritone voice.
I folded my hands and said straight to the point, "I want you to kick the dead weights out of the group."
"That again?"
"They\'re leeches. You know as well as I do that if this keeps up, all of us will suffer."
"You mean you will suffer."
My tongue pushed my inner cheeks at his stubborn voice. "Any sane leader knows how to cut losses. If those bunch continued to come with us, then the whole group would suffer. Few gil, few EXP, few foods — all because we continue feeding those useless bunch that don\'t contribute to the group!"
". . ." Brago took a deep breath before he stood to his feet and faced me.
His expression was solemn, as was his voice. "If you\'re not satisfied with how I run things, then you\'re free to leave."
He went past me and said, "If we were to abandon our fellow men, then we might as well abandon our humanity."
I sneered. "It\'s your kindness that\'s tearing this group apart."
But Brago seemed like he didn\'t hear me as he continued his way.
"Kindness would get you killed in this world!" I hollered, but neither did he stop nor take a glance in my direction.
I clicked my tongue and sighed into the dark sky.
Great!
It looked like it was going to rain again.
