Chapter 69 Gray Haired Man
Chris smirked and picked up the assault rifle. "Well well, Caster. Where are you~?" he gave a toothy grin as he looked ahead into the green hallways.
With a measured gait, he quickly made his way ahead while following the traces of blood of the hooded goon and after facing some similarly, night vision glasses equipped guards, he reached a big door.
\'Hah, is this what they call a boss room? I wonder what I will gain for killing the boss~\' with his humor broken and his mind in chaos, Chris laughed as he pushed the door open.
\'Ugh,\'
However, unlike expecting a volley of gun fire and getting the welcome that he had prepared against by picking up a body shield, he was assaulted by a nasty smell of rotting corpses.
A smell that instantly triggered his gag reflexes and gave him the urge to puke all the delicious food he ate since the morning.
He subconsciously took a step back as his mind raced again, all his emotions in a blur as he looked at countless corpses dotted around the room he thought to be the boss room.
"Ple…ase… let me… go…" a corpse turned her head towards Chris, her whole body thin from malnutrition as her skin clung onto her bones. Her body which might have been a youthful young figure now lay there with no care as she was left to die of starvation.
If it wasn\'t for her call in a low sound of a mosquito, Chris would have never ever expected that this woman was still alive.
Hearing her voice, Chris looked at her deathly pale and flimsy figure. He even thought that if were to just poke at her, she might die considering her current state.
But then Chris looked at the end of the hallway where another huge gate stood, getting an urge to let this nearly dead woman lie there as it is and hurry on to save Cathy.
But… he wasn\'t that cold hearted, he never could be. With a sigh, he took out a bar of a foreign candy that was gifted to him by Claire for the victory in volleyball match, and then looked at the nearly dead woman.
Pinching his nose to avoid the nasty stench, he made his way towards the woman. His fancy crocs crunching against the gravel beneath.
"N…No… don\'t… don\'t come an…y closer…" in her deathly low voice depraved of humanly essential nutrients she whispered in a clearly scared tone as she heard Chris\'s sounds of approaching.
Thinking that talking was out of the way against this deathly pale woman, Chris remained silent and neared to her flimsy petite frame.
"Eat this. I will return for you… if you remain alive, that is." Chris unwrapped the chocolate bar and placed it in the lady\'s hands, and then simply got up and continued to walk towards the second gate. Trying his hardest not to look at the dead bodies of many women and men that lay rotting in this pathetic room.
However this only increased his desire to kill Caster. After all, this was Caster\'s lair.
This time picking up a huge rock as his shield, Chris kicked open the door for the second time, his green sight brightening up in the light that originated from the big room.
Not wanting to get blinded, Chris pulled off the night vision goggles and hung them on his waist as he looked behind the door again.
Behind the door opened up a huge room, its flooring was made out of high quality wood while several other doors also opened to the same room. Like a spider web that spread from the center.
In the middle of the huge hall rested countless tin containers while the hall strangely contained no roof for half side, and had a roof for the other!
Despite the strange craftsmanship, the room gave an inexplicable aura of authority as if it once belonged to a great leader.
However currently, on a throne made of tin and iron, sat a youthful handsome male. His face was chiseled while his grayish hair fluttering in the winds. He had an air of authority around him as he sat on the iron throne and a gray-hooded goon knelt in front of the gray-haired man.
Chris froze in shock, not due to the remarkable architecture, not by the royal and suffocating aura… but due to the gray-haired man.
No, he wasn\'t Caster as Caster was supposed to have greenish… hairs…
Chris\'s thought process trailed off as he looked at the shining head of previously hooded goon. His hairs… were green.
\'I… was chasing Caster for the last 15 minutes…?\' Chris\'s gun in his hands clenched as he gritted his teeths looking at the kneeling Caster.
With another round of maniacal laughter and all the people in the room swinging their heads towards Chris, he took out his pistol and hiding behind the rock, he began to shoot to immobilize all the enemies.
It clearly wasn\'t hard to realize that Caster wasn\'t really the leader as he had initially believed. No. It was that king-like, authorative gray haired bastard.
Caster was just a fucking pawn. How dare that pawn touch his dear sister?
"Why did you lead him here?" Chris\'s sensitive ears in the wild gunfire, heard a mellow voice. It was mellow, and pleasant to listen to as it questioned simply to the kneeling man.
"H-He was asking for me… I got afraid…" Caster\'s trembling voice renounced, as he bowed his head in despair and surrendered. "Please… please forgive me… master."
"It\'s okay. Why are you afraid? You just brought an enemy to our hideout, is that it?" the man who was called as master by Caster, the gray-haired man asked in his pleasing and mellow voice.
And like a hen pecking chicken, Caster nodded furiously, thinking that the truth would save him from this despairing situation.
"That means you have betrayed \'Them\' too, doesn\'t it?" master smiled gently, as Caster froze in shock hearing these words.
He tried to open his mouth and refute this statement, but no words came out of his closed shut, shivering mouth. His vision suddenly went blank as his bowing head was planted on the floor lifelessly.
"Nobody betrays \'Them\'." nonchalant about the supernatural death that had just happened in front of his eyes, master clapped his hands and ordered some guards to dispose off Caster\'s body.
\'This…\' Chris however, who had an insane amount of bloodlust against Caster, felt a little awkward seeing that tragic death of Caster.
But of course, the main reason for his visit was still incomplete since he still had zero idea of Cathy\'s location.
"Stop. Who are you? Why have you came to our humble hideout?" master raised his hands as simultaneously all the fun fire in the room stopped. Even Chris instinctively stopped firing as master\'s voice filled his ears.
"I had some unfinished business here." Chris knew it was stupid to reveal his intentions to the enemy, afterall, they might simply take Cathy as hostage if they knew he was here for her.
"..." master stayed silent as he looked at Chris for a few more seconds and then opened his mouth again, "You were looking for Caster, hmm. So, assuming that you are here for him… the new batch of girls?"
Chris tried his hardest to hide the expressions on his face as he heard the master\'s words.
"Who are you?" Chris squinted his brows as he looked around at the obidient guards that had already stopped firing and attacking.
"Me? I am just a human with many names, some call me master, some call me devil. Well, I call myself Vincent." Vincent smiled casually as his gray long hairs flapped in the wind, giving him a beautiful feel.
\'And I call you cringe.\' Chris rolled his eyes as he looked at him, "So, now that you know why I am here, what will you do?" he asked, prepared for the worst that could be the sudden execution orders or even Cathy being taken hostage.
"You came so far for just a woman. Lover? Relative? Hmm… sister?" Vincent smiled, not giving an answer as he sat back on his iron throne.
"Maybe." Chris squinted his eyebrows, how was this bastard\'s guesses so accurate?!
"Don\'t be at so edge." Vincent chuckled, "You are quite talented, how about working for me? I will make you my right hand."
"..." Chris didn\'t reject the offer immediately, as he adopted a thinking look, "What about my sister?"
"She… will as planned, be sold." Vincent smiled.
"Ah, I see."
Chris smiled back as his hands around the gun tightened. After what seemed like an eternity of deathlock between his and Vincent\'s eyes, he finally raised his gun and shot at Vincent\'s temple.
"Then… you can die."
