Chapter 29 Common Enemy
Lei Zhen was dumbfounded to see a large crowd surrounding Tang Qiaolian and understood the reason for her lateness.
She had said she would arrive in 5 minutes, but it took her 10 minutes to arrive which meant she was delayed because of the crowd.
It was at this moment that Lei Zhen regretted not looking up the internet about the ranking and popularity of some character names in Magnolia. With the frenzy and commotion going around, he could deduce that Tang Qiaolian\'s character, Beautiful Heiress was famous.
Thus, Lei Zhen decided to use this time while Tang Qiaolian was still occupied by the crowd to search for her name through the system.
A few seconds later, Lei Zhen\'s eyes nearly fell out when he saw the ranking placement of Beautiful Heiress.
She was on the top 100 leaderboards and considering how there are billions of players global wide in Magnolia, being in the top 100 was an amazing feat.
"No wonder why there are some streamers actively recording this scene…" Lei Zhen muttered in disbelief.
pαndα`noνɐ1--сoМ If he didn\'t know the reason for her appearance in the newbie town, then he would have most likely reacted the same way as these people.
After all, a high ranker arriving in the newbie town was not something common. While he was in a daze, Lei Zhen suddenly received a message from Tang Qiaolian, asking to change their place of the meet-up.
In the message, Tang Qiaolian expressed her dilemma and how she forgot that she was a celebrity among the hearts of Magnolia players. Although she sounded remorseful, Lei Zhen could tell she was boasting and bragging about how popular she is.
Helpless, Lei Zhen could only follow the direction given to him by her and wait for her again. Despite being in such an advanced era, the only thing that hadn\'t changed at all was the fact that a man must wait for the woman.
Without further ado, Lei Zhen patiently waited at the designated location until he saw Tang Qiaolian coming in with an exhausted expression.
"Phew, my fans are really fanatic." Tang Qiaolian said, grabbing some sort of soft drink in her inventory.
"Aii~, it\'s a pain when one is born beautiful and amazing at something." She added, chugging down on the drink to her throat.
"..."
Ignoring her remarks, Lei Zhen interrupted, "Anyway, why did you want to come to the newbie town? It\'s not just to make a scene, right?"
"Obviously not, I don\'t have the leisure time to flaunt my fame."
"Then what was the reason that you wanted to meet me here? We could have chosen somewhere else, such as a neutral map that is open to everyone."
"Tch, with your current level and gears, it would have taken you months to even get to a neutral map." Tang Qiaolian clicked her tongue and sneered coldly.
For a second, Lei Zhen felt a chill running down his spine when he saw Tang Qiaolian\'s ferocious look. It was almost like he was a tiny human, trapped in a cage alongside a bloodthirsty lion that was ready to pounce at him at any given moment.
This kind of feeling was something that Lei Zhen prayed would never happen again. It was way too scary for him.
Swallowing a mouthful of saliva, Lei Zhen nodded his head, acting like an obedient dog toward its owner.
Seeing his docile attitude, Tang Qiaolian retracted her ferocious look and smiled gently, scaring the crap out of him for her swift change of expression.
\'As expected… women are the scariest being alive in the world.\' Lei Zhen thought to himself.
Sometime later, Tang Qiaolian created a party using the system interface and sent an invite to him. It didn\'t even take a second for Lei Zhen to click the accept button.
"Alright, with you being in the same party as me now, the experience we gained would be shared." Tang Qiaolian clasped her hand and explained the basic function of a party.
A party is a group where two or more players join together to explore and receive a shared benefit. This means that if a monster were killed by a party member, then the one who killed the monster would receive 60% of the experience whereas the other members would receive 40%.
Of course, it was a function that could be turned off if the party leader does not want the experience points to be shared among them.
A few minutes later, Lei Zhen nodded his head and asked, "So is this what it means to be carried by a high-level player?"
Tang Qiaolian\'s mouth curled upward as she made a grin.
"Hehe, that\'s right, so you should pay up the fee of getting carried by this Beautiful Heiress." She said softly and extended her hand out. "Let me tell you this, many wished to party up with me, but none of them are lucky enough to even interact with me. Thus, my price is very expensive."
"Can I refuse the carry then?"
"You can try it!"
"Cough, please have mercy on me. I\'m a poor man, hoping to earn some money here." Lei Zhen faked a cough and pleaded.
"Alright, I\'ll stop teasing you." Tang Qiaolian chuckled and proceeded to open the map interface.
She then pointed at a secular area that was about 3 kilometers away from the newbie town.
"Over here is a dungeon available for level 15 and above players to enter. It\'s the perfect dungeon for low-level players to grind for items and levels."
"But I\'m only at level 1, Qiaolian…"
"Dummy, that\'s the reason why I invited you to a party. Magnolia doesn\'t follow the normal game trend rules and has its own set of rules. Normally, it\'s impossible to bring low-level players to high-level dungeons, even if you meet the requirement. However, Magnolia is different and doesn\'t have that kind of restriction." Tang Qiaolian explained.
With that explanation, Tang Qiaolian quickly dragged the dazed Lei Zhen away from the newbie town under the envious gaze of others.
"Sigh, who is that person? To be able to have the Beautiful Heiress herself come to the newbie town."
"It doesn\'t matter who he is! I just know he\'s now the common enemy of all men."
"Hmph, I\'ve decided what to do in this game now. I shall become an assassin and assassinate that lucky bastard."
It was a shame that Tang Qiaolian\'s speed was very high and managed to exit the newbie town a long time ago with Lei Zhen. Hence, he remained ignorant about the numerous death flags he had raised.
