Chapter 76 Scolding
After dismissing the imperial guard, Lei Zhen followed the direction he got and made his way toward the new camp from Kate.
Kate\'s new camp was in a discreet location since she could not afford to be found during this time. Hence, the pathing took many twists and turns and was hidden by numerous trees to cover the tracks.
Time slowly passed by, and he finally arrived at the entrance of the camp but was stopped by two imperial guards.
"Halt, this is a restrictive area and no one is allowed." The imperial guards said loudly until the other one noticed who the person was.
His face instantly turned ashen white as he smacked his companion in the head. "Fool, don\'t you know this is Sir Lei Zhen! Who are you yelling at?"
After smacking his companion in a harsh tone, the imperial guard then turned around and flashed a gentle smile.
"Sir Lei Zhen, Princess Kate had been waiting for you for a while. She\'s at the center part where most guards are patrolling." The imperial guard said and made a big pathway for Lei Zhen to walk, fearing that he might bump into the barracks.
The barracks were laid neatly that covered the entire camp, preventing ambushers from easily entering.
After all, the barracks were inlaid with magic formation, activating the moment an intruder had gone by.
Lei Zhen nodded his head, and walked inside the camp, not bothering to respond to the imperial guard.
Responding to them would be equivalent to him approving them which would be detrimental to Kate.
The imperial guards need to understand that they need to do more than this to earn his trust since they had betrayed their king before.
By the time Lei Zhen\'s presence was gone, the imperial guard wiped away the sweat on his forehead before glaring angrily at his companion.
"Watch your mouth next time and identify who you\'re talking to in the future. I was nearly killed alongside you because of your damn big mouth." He hissed coldly and gave him another kick to vent his frustration.
Of course, what happened here did not bother Lei Zhen at all as he could care less how others viewed him.
pαndα`noνɐ1--сoМ Walking for some time, Lei Zhen saw Kate from afar and she was busily commanding people.
To his surprise, Kate\'s aura seemed to have changed in a few days, and looked like a true Queen.
"Have the spies gather more intel about Prince Carter\'s deployment and what he planned to do next. Prince Carter is now relying on me completely because he\'s using me as an excuse, and he doesn\'t suspect my intention yet." Kate commanded the people and dismissed them.
Although she looked extremely exhausted, she didn\'t have any intention of resting any time soon.
Seeing this, Lei Zhen slowly walked toward her, dumbfounding her.
"L-Lei Zhen, you finally came out?" Kate had a look of surprise before smiling at him.
The tactics from Lei Zhen were completely astounding, almost to the point that she thought he was secretly a god.
His intelligence and decisiveness were unheard of.
She was thoroughly impressed by him whenever she recalled the scene replaying exactly what Lei Zhen had told her so.
Alas, she didn\'t expect Lei Zhen to scold her the first time he came back.
"Why are you not resting properly? Have you forgotten my words that you must stay healthy no matter what? Or did you take my words as a joke?" He didn\'t hold back on his scolding.
In fact, he purposely scolded her in public, allowing the other soldiers to see Kate being scolded. That way, this will let others know that even Kate can commit a mistake and be scolded for her wrongdoing.
"I-I…" Kate was left speechless as she didn\'t expect to be scolded like a little child. Not even her father had scolded her publicly like this before.
"What? Are you trying to rebuke me?" Lei Zhen raised an eyebrow.
"N-No… that\'s not my intention." Kate stutteringly said and lowered her head.
"Then what are you still standing here for? Your eyes are blacker than the panda\'s eyes. Hurry up and go to sleep. Otherwise, I\'ll punish you thoroughly for neglecting your health." Lei Zhen shouted and pointed at the bed inside her own personal tent.
Although unwilling to sleep right now, she dared not ignore his command and quietly walked to her own personal tent.
Before she entered, Lei Zhen turned around and calmly said, "Leave the rest to me now. You can take a good rest before coming out to see the tide changed again."
A tinge of warmth arose in her heart as Kate hurriedly closed the tent behind, and lay on the bed. The moment she lay on the bed, Kate\'s eyes slowly closed as she fell asleep.
She was fatigued and had not gotten a proper rest until now.
Had it not been for Lei Zhen\'s harsh tone, she might really have continued to stay awake and faint from exhaustion.
After all, no one other than Lei Zhen would scold her to sleep given her status and reputation.
Meanwhile, Lei Zhen who was outside her tent glared at the patrolling soldiers.
The patrolling soldiers were instantly frightened and straightened their backs.
"You, tell the other soldiers who are not on patrol duty to meet me in another tent." Lei Zhen pointed at one of them and commanded. "Also, tell Chris to come over there as well. I\'ll need him to do something for me."
"Yes sir!" The patrolling soldiers saluted and accepted the order with respect.
They were all frightened by how timid Kate had become in front of Lei Zhen when she had been commanding them the entire time.
How could they not be afraid of someone who their own boss was afraid of?
Seeing the frantic patrolling soldiers run to complete his order, Lei Zhen was feeling a bit perplexed.
He didn\'t want to become a chancellor yet the soldiers seemed to have placed him in that position already in their hearts.
\'What a blunder. I meant to scold Kate in front to let them know that everyone commits mistakes. And that as long as they are adamant in their redemption, then all is well.\' Lei Zhen sighed softly, walking to another tent to organize his next plan.
