Chapter 190 Kraken’s Clone
Booom!
Booooom!
Booooooom!
In the basement of Caprice, only the sound of a cannon being fired could be heard.
Although each time the cannon fired, there was a slight sound of someone tearing up.
\'Please Candice… can\'t you hurry up and hasten the ship. This goddamn Kraken\'s Clone is closing behind us.\' Lei Zhen cried inwardly, his hands readying to shoot another round.
Despite shooting so many times at the Kraken\'s Clone, whenever he saw the health point that remained on the Kraken\'s Clone, Lei Zhen felt like his heart was aching in pain.
Glancing at the system information regarding the Kraken\'s Clone, there was only one word to describe it: pain.
[Species: Kraken\'s Clone
Level: 62
HP: 36,900/40,000]
If brute force was enough to kill the Kraken\'s Clone, then all is well.
Unfortunately, though, the Kraken\'s Clone could self-heal, meaning the damage he dealt with would be easily recovered.
Hence, even if he knew he was burning a lot of money, Lei Zhen needed to continuously fire the cannon to further their distance.
After all, the Kraken\'s Clone had its eyes locked onto their ship and without the cannon hindering its movement, the Kraken\'s Clone could easily catch up to them.
"This isn\'t going to be enough," Lei Zhen finally said and pointed at another crewman to do the work of firing the cannon.
He had severely overestimated the power of the cannon, thinking that it would be a powerful weapon that could deal an insane amount of damage.
Oh, how wrong could he be?
Expensive doesn\'t mean good at all. Each firing of the cannon cost him 50 silver coins and in total, he burnt around 450 silver coins already.
However, all of them seemed to only itch the Kraken\'s Clone slightly.
With one of the crewmen now handling the firing of the cannon, Lei Zhen headed upstairs to check up on Candice.
While walking out in the open, Lei Zhen saw the Kraken\'s Clone swinging its large tentacle around, splashing through the seawater.
Glancing at it for a few seconds, Lei Zhen felt his body shudder slightly as he locked eye contact with the Kraken\'s Clone.
\'Damn, why do I have the feeling that it was sneering at me?\' He thought to himself.
Shaking his head, Lei Zhen ignored the glare of the Kraken\'s Clone and proceeded to enter the Steering Room, only to see Candice pushing a bunch of buttons at the control panel.
"Don\'t bother with the buttons, Candice. Those buttons were temporarily disabled from the shockwave previously. We\'ll have to find a place to dock our ship to get it fixed internally." Lei Zhen calmly said.
"I know about that, but I\'m trying to see if my Telekinesis ability could mobilize some of the functions at the very least," Candice responded without turning around.
And she continued, "The ship can only go at a maximum of 17 knots whereas the Kraken\'s Clone can easily muster 20 knots and beyond. Hence, I\'m trying to look for an alternative solution to get away from it."
Lei Zhen nodded his head.
He stepped forward and took the helm of the steering wheel away from Candice.
"I\'ll drive the ship manually then while you try to activate some of the functions. As long as we can make it back to the boundary lines, then the Kraken\'s Clone would have no choice but to give up its pursuit."
"Will the boundary lines truly prevent the Kraken\'s Clone pursuit?" Candice asked subtly. Given that she had witnessed four sea monsters who were able to ignore the boundary lines restriction, there were a few doubts on her mind.
"I don\'t know for sure, but we can only hope for the best." Lei Zhen smiled slightly and began maneuvering the ship, following the momentum of the wave.
Time slowly passed by, and the pursuit of the Kraken\'s Clone was more fervent.
It spread its tentacle throughout the seawater and occasionally, some of them managed to reach the ship, causing the ship to vibrate from the impact. At the same time, the ship\'s defensive structure was slowly wearing down.
ραпdα nᴏνa| сom Despite the impact that they were receiving, none of the crewmen or Lei Zhen gave up as everyone started to work as a team to get through this incident.
Finally, when the cannon managed to deal a little bit more than half the health points of the Kraken\'s Clone, it struck one final time at the ship before giving up its pursuit.
Not to mention, the ship had finally re-entered the boundary lines border.
"Master, the Kraken\'s Clone is retreating now," Candice informed him. She thought that Lei Zhen would be relieved to hear this, but when she noticed he took off his mask and revealed a solemn expression, confusion appeared on her face.
"Master?"
"With this incident, I\'m now quite sure that someone is manipulating the scene behind the shadow." Lei Zhen said in a grave tone.
The reason why he rushed the ship back to the boundary lines wasn\'t that he believed the boundary lines were reliable.
But it was because the boundary lines were like a magic sensory, so if someone were truly controlling the Kraken\'s Clone, then they wouldn\'t dare to have it enter the boundary lines.
After all, that would be equivalent to announcing to all the magicians that had set up the boundary lines about their ability or power to control a ferocious sea monster.
"H-How is that possible, Master? We have our ship location concealed so others can\'t detect us. Not to mention, a Kraken\'s Clone might not be the real thing, but it\'s still a fearsome foe." Candice stutteringly said, unable to believe someone would be behind this incident.
"I would also like to think that way, but the circumstances say otherwise. And I\'m quite positive that our rescuing of Peter and the rest had caught the other party\'s intention. Though they didn\'t really wish for our death considering that the Kraken\'s Clone had retreated." Lei Zhen said, checking up on the ship\'s damages.
Although the Kraken\'s Clone had been attacked continuously, it was their ship that had taken the most damage since almost everything was down.
