My Goalkeeping System

Chapter 100 He Was An Obstacle

<It\'s nice to see her seriously mad at you for change> Catherine said as the goalkeeper walked toward the door.

\'This isn\'t the first time.\'

<Didn\'t you hear me? I made sure to stress the word seriously>

He wasn\'t really in the mood to argue with anybody at all so he chose to ignore her.

He stared at the door for a while and was about to push it open when his phone began to vibrate in his pocket.

"Mateo." He muttered after quickly pulling the phone out of his pocket and checking the name of the caller. "Hello."

"Hey, bro, how\'re you doing?" Mateo asked as his voice resounded through the phone\'s speaker although it wasn\'t that loud as the audio setting wasn\'t on loudspeaker.

"I\'m okay, you?"

"Same," Mateo replied. "You know I was just sitting on my bed scrolling through Facebook when I saw a shocking post, I thought it was one of those fake news to draw attention until I began to see more of the posts so I just wanted to…."

"It\'s true," Dave said. "If you\'re talking about my dad\'s accident then it\'s true."

"What the heck? How did it happen?"

"He lost control while driving and went off the road before crashing on the fenced walls of the Melino\'s restaurant," Dave explained.

"Oh, that\'s ghastly, I heard he was taken to the Central Hospital, is he okay?"

"Yeah, we\'re just coming back from the hospital, he sustained a few serious and not that serious injuries but he\'s okay."

"Okay, that\'s good news," Mateo said, letting out a little sigh of relief.

"Yeah."

"I\'m just glad he\'s okay," Mateo said. "Are you going to watch the Lesica United match?"

"I don\'t think so," Dave said, shaking his head.

"Okay, I\'m not watching the match but I\'m following the scores, and Spree City currently have a one goal lead, if they can keep the lead and win the match that\'s good news for us."

"Yeah," Dave replied.

"Felix has twenty-one goals, just two more goals before he catches up to me," Mateo said.

"Of course, he\'s the goal scorer."

"Yeah, I just want them to secure this win against Lesica."

"Me too."

"Alright, bro, I have to go now, you can maybe update me on your father\'s situation in the morning."

"I don\'t think I will be the one doing the updating," Dave said.

"Yeah, I have to go now, bye."

He had ended the call as Dave slowly slid his phone back into his pocket before turning his gaze to the door once again.

He opened the door and entered the house expecting to see Emma in the living room, but she wasn\'t there.

"Today had almost ended on a fine note." He muttered before making his way to the kitchen. "I guess it was meant to end as a bad day for me." He added before pulling the freezer open.

He stared at the huge two liters containers on the lower part before raising his gaze and picking the smallest bottled water in there which was just fifty centiliters.

He quickly took down the contents and through the container on the floor before making his way toward the staircase.

He walked up to the staircase and ran his gaze from the first step before letting out a sigh.

He climbed the stairs and made his way to his room to find Emma lying on the bed facing the other side with that blanket covering her body.

She heard his footsteps when he entered the room but she didn\'t bother to turn and instead continued doing what she was doing with her phone.

Dave didn\'t say anything as he slowly walked to the bed and slid into the blanket beside her.

He just lay there and stared at the ceiling for a few minutes before slowly turning her gaze to her.

"Hey." He called but there was no response from her. "I\'m sorry for yelling at you like that back there."

"It\'s not just about the yelling." She said after turning her phone over on the bed. "What is so hard about telling me why the relationship between you and your father is like this?"

"Everything," Dave said.

"Everything?"

"Yeah, I told you my mother played a big part in who I am today, do you want to know what role my father had?"

"Yeah, what role?"

"An obstacle, he acted as a big obstacle to me."

"How?" She said before turning around to face him. "How was he a big obstacle to you?"

"That\'s the problem, Emma, I just can\'t talk about it, he was an obstacle quite alright but I just can\'t talk about all the things that made him one, just thinking about it makes my heart ache in anger and the worst part is that he has never asked me to forgive him for any of those things, he doesn\'t even remorseful about them."

"He did horrible things to you," Emma muttered, staring at him. "I understand why you don\'t want to tell me now but he\'s still your father and I\'m glad you still see him like that."

After saying that, she pulled closer to him for a cuddle before slowly pulling the blanket off her body to get up from the bed.

"Are you hungry?" She asked.

"Yeah," Dave replied.

"Okay, there are some fruits in the freezer, let me see what I can do with them." She said before making her way out of the room.

<Just as I expected, it wasn\'t going to last for a minimum of one hour>

\'Shut up.\'

After having their lunch together, the two went straight to bed as they both had busy schedules tomorrow.

They cuddled on the bed while talking about a few things before they finally fell asleep with his arms wrapped around her.

Just about twenty minutes into his sleep, Dave found himself in the endless white space again with Catherine standing in front of him looking just like he saw her last time.

"Hey, Cat, what\'s for experience training today?"

"A cat is a feline, why would you refer to me as one, do you want to make me look like one now?"

"No, Cat\'s just short for Catherine like I call Emma Emm sometimes."

"Oh," Catherine said. "I don\'t think I like it anyway."

"Don\'t worry you\'ll get used to it." He said. "So what\'s for experience training today?"

"Focus." She spelled out and just like that, the whole place began to change into a stadium.

He watched as the whole place transformed into a stadium similar in size to the Wondamino stadium.

While he was still looking around, a goalpost appeared behind as two balls came flying toward him from nowhere at the same time.

He didn\'t know exactly how to react at that time as both balls flew past him and fell into the back of the net.

"How am I supposed to save two balls at a time?" He asked before turning his gaze to look at the balls in the goalpost.

"You were only supposed to save one," Catherine said as her voice resounded around the area.

"Huh?"
