Chapter 117 Bait And Switch
Two Days Later,
A shadow appeared in the tall grass. Two white dots among the shadow, the two eyes of them, looking closely at something else.
Something, big, and something ferocious.
The size of the shadow was pitiful compared to the one that it was surveilling.
The dinosaur that was the surveliee in question was drinking water from a large lake, completely oblivious to what it would only consider a mere pest.
But it just could not resist some scent that was coming from around. The scent of prey. And prey didn\'t usually come about this part of the large forest that it was considered a behemoth of.
The large dinosaur went upright, looking around. As a monster of such size, it wasn\'t the most agile of creatures. It could only slowly turn its head, and look around.
As for the scent, it was coming from the direction of the shadow that was surveilling it. Or rather, ti was coming from the shadow itself.
The shadow suddenly moved. It\'s human figure suddenly came to the light. And its hands suddenly started typing mid air.
[It took the bait.]
Looking at the small pest that suddenly appeared in its territory, and unable to resist the smell that the human gave, the large dinosaur roared as it started running toward the human.
But it wasn\'t agile, and it could barely chase after the surprisingly slow human.
A few times, the dinosaur almost caught up to the man, but just when it was about to reach him, he went a little faster, and and went out of reach.
This game of cat and mouse continued, but the dinosaur just couldn\'t take the fact that some pest was in its space, and was hiding from it. And for the thing to be so enticing, the smell to be so delicious, it just knew that it had to get hold of this prey.
But after a few minutes of running, knocking down so many trees on the way, it started to slow down. And the reason, it understood that it was bordering the territory of another monster. A monster that it could go against, but it would rather.
The man smiled, as he continued running as well, and then stood at the very edge, glaring at the large monster in front of him. With his hands crossed, he smugly looked at the monster.
As if taunting the monster, telling it that it wouldn\'t dare touch him, he leaned on a tree nearby.
The dinosaur roared with this. The prey was resting? While it was right front of him? This was a clear provocation that it just coudnt take.
It took the last few steps and and tried to grab the man.
"Good girl. You took the bait." The man smiled and suddenly dashed.
He disappeared completely, nowhere to be found. The dinosaur looked around, and it could only use its sense of smell, but it was gone. The enticing smell disappeared for some reason.
Roaring with anger, it raged. It hit the trees around, uprooting many of them, hoping that its prey was behind one of them.
The man was not.
Thud!
Thud!
A loud noise came from in front of the monster. The ground was shaking, and the dinosaur could see a similar shaped figure of the man that it was chasing.
And this time, the prey was running toward it? Or rather, the prey was running away from something.
Behind this man, different from the other one, a large shadow appeared. This manifested into something terrifying. With the same height as the dinosaur that the first shadow was running away from, and just as strong, the dinosaur that ran all the way here, chasing after its prey, locked eyes with the other behemoth in front of it.
Two monsters chasing after what they assumed was the same prey?
Two monsters that considered themselves kings couldn\'t take this insult.
Both of them roared as they dashed toward each other, completely ignoring the prey that they were fighting over.
And the shadow disappeared, appearing a few meters away, in one of the bushes,
"This worked like a charm. You were right. They did fight each other." One of the shadows nodded.
"What do you think? If it worked with the smaller dinosaurs, it should work with the bigger ones as well. The game gave these monsters an ego. And the ego of practical king of hills would be nothing short of astronomical." Jake chuckled as he nodded.
"Look at them. Equally matched. And each of them battling with such strength. A single attack from them and we would have died." Myriad Arrows shuddered.
"We are playing with high risks, high rewards." Jake smiled.
"Well then, now that both of them are way too preoccupied with what they are doing here, we can do what we wanted to. Remember, do not leave a single trace, and throw the piece of cooked meat in there. It will come in handy." Jake reminded.
"Got it. At this rate, the battle will probably last around half an hour. These monsters have way too big HP bars." Myriad Arrows said.
"Either way, we cannot waste any more time. Go there and get whatever you see. Pick them both clean." Jake said.
Saying this, both of them disappeared.
One went the side of the first dinosaur, while the other went to the side of the second.
Meanwhile, in the middle of the two territories, the two dinosaurs that were the kings of the two territories, beasts that no one else in the forest would dare mess with, were battling it out because of their ego.
Two tigers couldn\'t co exist in one mountain. That was why each of them found their own mountain.
But now, Jake and Myriad Arrows forced them both into one mountain to have them battle it out, and this was the result.
Utter destruction of the forest.
